The Truth About Choosing the Right Attorney (And Why it Makes a Difference)
Free Book "The Truth About Choosing the Right Attorney"
Choosing the right attorney to represent you in an injury case may be the most important decision that you ever make.
Just like you would never chose a surgeon based upon a television jingle or a yellow page advertisement, you should never chose your attorney without finding out about the attorney’s qualifications, specializations and results they have obtained in other cases.
Williams & Brown LLP is an experienced trial law firm devoted to representing children who have suffered birth injuries and their families, victims of medical negligence, and individuals in major personal injury cases, product liability and trucking accidents cases. Our partners, Dale Williams and Laura Brown, are Board Certified Specialists in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Both Dale and Laura are adjunct professors at Baylor Law School teaching Personal Injury Trial Law to the law school students.
For more than 30 years, Dale Williams has taught thousands of attorneys at Baylor Law School how to properly handle serious injury and wrongful death cases. He has written a book outlining the process of choosing the right attorney for a personal injury case. His book will help you find the right attorney and includes the following checklist to assist injured people and their families when looking for a lawyer.
_____ Check for board certified specialists on Texas Board of Legal Specialization website, www.tbls.org.
_____ If no web access, call Texas Board @ 800-204-2222, ext. 1454.
_____ Call law firms to determine if they exclusively represent plaintiffs.
_____ Ask plaintiff firms for a firm brochure.
_____ Ask for a list of the attorney’s top five courtroom verdicts— not just a list of settlements.
_____ Check the law firm’s website.
_____ If you are not impressed with the attorney’s courtroom record, keep searching.
_____ Don’t let an unqualified attorney find a qualified attorney for you unless he is your family attorney.
_____ Once you find the right attorney, sign a contingent fee contract and let him or her go to work for you.
